Chapter Seventy Eight: The Two Copy Editors Arrive
The apparition of the two Copy Editors came as abrupt flashes of light, and within seconds they have materialized into the environment of the story of Snow White. They have arrived at the center of a forest near the marketplace, where they can hear, although slightly inaudible, the sudden noise of a busy morning. It was time for them to move quickly; they must return to that same spot in order to track two of the suspected burglars who looted the Classics Authority.
While they are making their way into that crucial location, they have noticed significant objects in the surroundings that does not fit in the setting of the story.
"This is a skateboard, Kid," one of the Copy Editors spoke to his companion. His name is Alvin Truthful. "Curious to see such a thing in this story."
"Right. How do you think they would react if they saw this one?" the more junior Copy Editor called Kid Hilwright answered back smirking, pointing to a baseball bat. "I guess they will all freak out when they saw that."
Both of them gave a delicate laugh.
"The pollution has started its effect in contaminating the setting of this very important story and we are barely clueless as to the location of the burglars responsible for this brazen desecration," Alvin said. "Why do you think they wanted to destroy this place once and for all?"
"Maybe they are envious of Snow White's beauty?" Kid answered absent-mindedly. He honestly do not care if he was right at that instance.
"Why be very concerned about beauty, then? What can be the motivation to seek such a thing?"
The matter is starting to take shape. Alvin's voice was showing confidence.
"Because beauty can attract affection, that is what I know. If there is something with definite beauty, then love always follows."
Alvin smiled, then weakly shook his head.
"You cannot manufacture love, Kid. That is a basic cardinal rule."
"Yes and no. But perhaps I have to agree with you on one thing," Kid retorted, totally aware of where the argument is now heading. He was ready to defend and rationalize his thinking. "Love can never be forced, or manufactured, as you have supposed, but, considering the criminal intent of someone stealing something for their own gain, what if genuine love wasn't really sought to begin with, and only the positive effects associated with the senses of falling in love are actually desired?"
"Senses? What do you mean?" Alvin was suddenly interested to know.
"That love can be used for other purposes. Like, for an evil purpose. Goodness being corrupted for the sole purpose of understanding all things, in order to use it for ..."
Kid hesitated to continue.
"For what?" the senior Copy Editor asked. He wasn't ready to hear the answer, albeit he's afraid that he already get the idea.
"For destroying someone."
