Chapter Sixty: The Ancestors

/ there is always a secret no one wants to talk about, hidden from historical accounts /

History is replete with examples of how power corrupts men of value, how power (and claims to it) starts the bloody revolutions, how the victors of any battle change historical accounts to reflect historical biases between, or among, the belligerents, and how history repeats itself.

But history also offers a glimpse of the many ancestors who built a particular place into its present glory, led numerous armies to protect its walls, and serve the present line of Kings from the given ancestral line. History is a story of the many defeats and the triumphs of a certain people, country, or empire. In itself portrays many virtues, of which courage and determination are only two of them.

It is safe to say that the ancestors have these many virtues portrayed through their days that contributed to the glorious stature of the country, as rightfully reflected in its might and strength they have worked so hard for; it has seen many battles, and its soil was watered by the precious blood of its courageous warriors.

Then, there are these secrets hidden from history, perhaps hidden from the light, that the ancestors have done to preserve their powers or their ancestral line as a matter of succession; maybe some of these matters are dark and ruthless, or plain evil that haunts the place or the Kingdom that it needed to do to keep its existence alive.

The ancestors of this story is not far from the possibilities currently enumerated, and they have left a House. What this House does is within the norms, but not much about it is talked about openly among the many people, warriors, and subjects of the King. It is as if the topic is taboo, maybe because the Ancestral House is a source of power that nobody wants to know about, anyway.

But everything has a secret. Including the Ancestral House.

And this secret is in grave danger of getting exposed that will lead to undeniable consequences.
