Chapter Twenty Seven: Cause of Action

The nine members of the Judicial and Bar Council were dressed in purple robes, and were sitting in a semi-circular row. Facing them is the Secretary of Parochial Concerns, who is sitting at the center of the table in front of the Councilors, while the Judicial Vicar of the South Kingdom is sitting to their left. Meanwhile, the Tenth Kingdom is represented by the Secretary of State for Justice, who is positioned to the right side of the table with his team.

The Cause of Action has been officially read, presented by the Secretary-General of the Commission on Appointments, and the Tenth Kingdom denies all allegations, giving rise to a formal trial. The Secretary of Parochial Concerns has no objections to the Cause of Action, much to the surprise of the Secretary of State for Justice.

"Your Rightful Honors," he began, trying to make a clear manifestation. "We would like to ask for a position paper from the Parochial Concerns regarding their position in this particular Cause of Action, which we believe should be dismissed immediately for being an appointed function of the States, and we would like to ask this honorable Council to decide on the merits of the arguments presented, as we move to contest the position made."

The Council Chairman of the Judicial and Bar Council quickly addressed the issue, "Very well, the Secretary of Parochial Concerns is instructed to submit a position paper on his interpretation of the appointed function reserved for the States, in order for this body to decide. So ordered."

The Secretary of Parochial Concerns acknowledged the order with no appeal.

"Further, Your Rightful Honors," the Tenth Kingdom continues with their preliminary motions. "We would like to ask this honorable Council to postpone the formal hearing of this Cause of Action until after the motion on Parochial Concerns has been fully settled and ruled upon, without prejudice to the defense and prosecution of this particular case."

The Council Chairman banged his gavel twice. "Indeed," he stated. "By virtue of the preliminary motion, and in accordance with the Standing Bar Rules, the Judicial and Bar Council hereby suspends the hearing of the main Cause of Action until after the issue on Paroquial Concerns has been properly resolved. The Secretary of Parochial Concerns and the Defense of the Tenth Kingdom shall submit their memoranda within seven days starting tomorrow. So ordered."

The gavel was banged again twice.

"Any other manifestation? Hearing none. The Council is adjourned until the next appointed hearing."
