Chapter Seventy Five: A Request

The Commission on Appointments has overwhelmingly rejected the South Kingdom's prayer for a Writ of Mandamus in favor of the Tenth Kingdom, even gathering a bipartisan vote, to the complete dismay of those who see the glaring inequity in the current proceedings. That despite arguing about unjust enrichment while the case hearing is in progress, every speech in support of the Temporary Restraining Order seems to be falling on deaf ears.

It is because of the Tenth Kingdom's unwaning influence in the Commission that actually did it, and to the surprise of many, this seems not enough for a Kingdom whose power is flexing in times of a heavily divisive dispute with the rest of the Appointments.

Right now, the High Commissioner of the Tenth Kingdom is holding a meeting with the Official Opposition Leader regarding certain security matters, but mostly about its voluntary contributions on military operations and the efficient functioning of the Blue Ribbon Committee.

"We simply cannot do away with your support, Your Rightful Honor. May we respectfully know how this decision have been reached?"

The High Commissioner responded almost instantly, and quite relieved that the threat is being acknowledged as a valid political concern.

"The Tenth Kingdom is committed to preserve peace and order within or without the Commission, and this particular duty we will continue to uphold with an earnest sense of responsibility. However, our present parochial concerns leaves us with no choice but to adopt austerity measures to effectively manage our fiscal policies. Our aggressive support for the security of this great Commission has not been met with the same enthusiasm as before, and the present status quo will likely change going forward."

The Official Opposition Leader seems uncomfortable from what was being implied from this rhetoric, and this is alarming. A powerful realm cannot simply withdraw from its much-needed support on Appointed security matters.

"Lack of enthusiasm? I simply cannot comprehend this assertion, Your Rightful Honor. The Blue Ribbon Committee remains indebted to your generosity. We are truly grateful."

The High Commussioner smiled wanly. His facial gestures seem to indicate a lack of sincerity.

"I am sorry, Your Honor. But we do not feel it that way. The dynamics have abruptly changed, and it is simply not the same as before. We felt betrayed and left alone despite our consistent commiment to the Appointments. This has happened for the very first time in decades, and this is clearly very discouraging."
