Chapter Fifty Eight: A Storm is Coming

A member of the Story Board stood in front the Eastern Wall, looking at the significant moments of the history of the Board sketched on the surface, and invoking every right to be critical and proud, happy and responsible, all of the same time. He was accompanied by the Scribe of the Scrolls as they look carefully together for any sign that might indicate a pattern of events.

"Have you seen anything?" the member of the Story Board asked. His name is Jeremy Knot.

"No," the Scribe responded. She is Irene Clevers.

They kept looking and touching the Wall for any information that might lead to their dreaded suspicion. They wanted to know if it was true or not, or if ever it is destined to unfold nonetheless. It was too early to give up now. There has to be a way.

Three hours have gone by when Jeremy finally made sense of the sketches on the left side of the Wall. "A storm is coming," he said blankly. "Yes, it is correct."

Irene was suddenly alerted by those words that she looked very carefully at what was written in code or in deed. She kept feeling the writings on the Wall.

"It was a storm alright," she said to Jeremy. "There is an omen ready to be unleased. A simple wish. Death. Suffering."

"Suffering?" the member of the Story Board asked. "I've thought all the while it was just death, the way the prisoner escaped. That is why she was convicted for, isn't it not? For murder?"

"Yes, I am quite aware," the Scribe said. "But the writings are never wrong. The prophecies here are exact and true, and untampered. Only the Keeper of the Eastern Wall would know if enchantments have been made on what is contained herein."

"And you believed all of that? After the previous Story Board let the Prisoner loose?" There was a tone of disdain in Jeremy's voice. It was heavy.

"Shhh! Someone might hear you. Believe what you want to believe," she carefully shrugged the matter off. "But you need to watch out for a storm from now on."

He quickly nodded.

"Apparently, I must," Jeremy finally said. He went for one last look at the Wall, and then proceeded on his way out while Irene unceremoniously followed his steps towards the exit.
