Chapter Twenty Nine: The Murderer
It was a dark and scary night. The cold brought about by the gust of wind brings chills in her spine. The murderer was facing her with contempt in his eyes, which made her scared and helpless even more. It is his red eyes that penetrated her soul which paralyzed her hands that made her unable to summon any constellation.
"Why are you doing this?" the Astrologer asked with a trembling voice. "Everybody loves you. You are the best in your craft. Your future is already sealed with a destined certainty. What more are you asking for? What else is there?"
The Murderer seemed not to catch her pleas, but still apologized. "I am very sorry for this," he mumbled softly.
The Astrologer looked at him straight in the eye. "Then why do this if you are truly sorry? You are not a vampire anymore."
"Enough!"
The Murderer started to sob, and the pain he was feeling was manifested in his grief. He has been struggling with a lot of things recently, and he has no idea what he is doing anymore. His mind is preoccupied by chaos and confusion.
"I know what you are doing all along. But if you must kill me next, then do it now. But please let me die with my dignity."
"I do not want to kill anymore."
"Then stop these senseless attacks against the Gawkins Republic!"
The Murderer turned away from her gaze, but his voice was still loaded with grief and desperation. "I cannot stop. It was him who wanted it. He threatened me to activate my Vampiric Curse if I fail to attack."
The Astrologer was suddenly released, and an Aquarius constellation appeared around her hands, ready to attack.
"You can fight him," she said. "All of you can."
"You can kill me now," the Murderer said blankly.
"I am not a murderer, neither," she said plainly. "And I will not expose you either. It's your choice. And I will faithfully remain silent until you are ready."
