Chapter Ninety Six: A Call for the Independent Committee on Accounts

"Madam Commissioner, I rise on a personal privilege to ask for an urgent appeal to the Rectory's Commision on ad interim Appointments to the Temporary Minister on Special Concerns on a subject matter submitted to the table," the Delegate from the Tenth Kingdom said, addressing an emergency session called by the Backbenchers Business Subcommission.

The presiding Commissioner spoke to recognize the member speaking. "The Distinguished Delegate from the Tenth Kingdom is now recognized to state the topic of her personal privilege."

"Thank you, Madam Commissioner," the Delegate said, ready to begin her urgent appeal. "In recent weeks, the imposition of tariffs in the main logistical routes that passes through the Tenth Kingdom has become a national concern as a result of a lawsuit that questions the legality of the unilateral act as a direct violation of the Constitutional foundations of this great Commission, in relation to the terms provided for by the Treaty of Gawkins."

The Delegate paused, while the members of the Commission is listening intently.

"Among those arguments being alleged by the Cause of Action pertains to an attempt to link the imposition of tariffs to the principle of undue enrichment, which is also being vehemently denied by my own constituency before the Judicial and Bar Council."

"While it is within the appointed powers granted among the contituencies of this honorable Commission on Appointments to allege this fact as a representation before this great Commission or any of its instrumentalities, any Delegate may also oppose any attempt to allege a fact of the same value without presenting convincing evidence before this august body that may adversely injure any represented territory, so I now rise on a personal privilege to ask the Commission to convene the Independent Committee on Accounts to audit the legal claims relating to this issue of unjust enrichment."

The Commission is unusually silent as tensions are felt. The speech is politically-charged, and everybody is quite aware.

"This representation would like to ask for a thorough audit of the financials and operations of the South Kingdom's entities seeking this immediate relief from extended authority, if indeed such undue enrichment is present or whether the South Kingdom was just evading the tariffs to increase its bottom figures, among the other commercial strategic interests involved therein."

"Of course, Madam Commissioner, this personal privilege does not, in anyway, wishes to influence the facts of the present lawsuit, but for the Commission to consider ways on how the Treaty of Gawkins will be interpreted by means of a legislation in future cases to come, by carefully considering the result and comprehensive report of the inquiry to be made by such Independent Committee on Accounts."

"My constituency extends its sincerest gratitude to the Backbenchers Business Subcommission for calling this emergency session to put this manifestation as an important matter to be taken up on the table."

"Thank you, Madam Commissioner."
