Chapter Forty Four: A Vampire's Narrative

It was hard. It was difficult and long.

The difficulty lies in what was at stake, rather than who was at stake. To what do we owe our survival for, when we are allowed to hunt for our own food? We are feeding mostly on bears and moose, and what has been the issue was territorial integrity, according to them. It was never the moral issue of killing the animals. It was about something more sinister.

When we look at the most recent maps, the population of bears and moose, especially the bears where most of our nutrition comes from, tend to congregate mostly in the dense forests of the South Kingdom, although the animals move from that territory to other nearby borders within the Commission of Appointments.

The beginning of taking into consideration the proprietary interest on the bears came in when we (the vampires) attested to the illegal logging of trees by the South Kingdom, which is a brutal practice during that time. Their source of anger has totally involve a big axe to grind regarding to what was alleged against them. It has resulted into an ugly reckoning of who's right and who's wrong.

The legal battle later on begun, and the South Kingdom needed a big witness to make a case against the vampires, for them to leave their territory once and for all. For all intents and purposes, a vampire ultimately agreed to turn his back on his own people, thinking that not all of us will be thrown out, but only those involve in initiating this legal controversy. Someone testified.

I did.

But things got worse after the lawsuit was eventually won. Although we are granted to remain, a lot of us has experienced discrimination from all parts of the Kingdom. One by one, we were the target of endless attacks. The discrimination grew from simple altercations to full blown hate. Murders become a norm, until the Kingdom passed the Spindle of Hate Act, which technically legalized the killings of our kind, and our expulsion from the territory.

This is not about the Spindle of Hate. History is replete with examples that after the South Kingdom won the control of the territory, a truce began for a very long time. The Spindle of Hate has not been used for as long as I can remember. I know. Believe me.

But this is about retaliation and genocide. Most of all, this is a blatant case of treachery.

We will be back. We will make them pay for their lies. They will pay for the blood they owed to our race.
