Chapter Forty Five: The Petitioner's Opening Statement

The Judicial and Bar Council, in the matter of South Kingdom and Secretary of Parochial Concerns v. Tenth Kingdom, has called the court session into order. As soon as everyone was seated, the Petitioner's Main Barrister stood up for their opening arguments:

"This case is not about the South Kingdom alone. This case is about the preservation of law and order within the Commission, which is important in maintaining the federation of its smaller entities. This is not about our particular claim or vested interest, but we seek to be clarified as to where the lines are drawn between the Commission's authority and that of parochial concerns."

"For this reason, we sought to instigate this Cause of Action which arise from this case to bring matters of common concern into the light, to preserve the strong union of this country, as well as defining further the authority appointed to the Commission."

"Throughout the course of this hearing, we will establish how principles of equity are present in our current claims, and that erring entities must be guided by a broad interpretation of the appointed powers to address grievances affected in such equitable claims."

"This necessitates determining which actions can be initiated from gray areas arising from the law that established the office of parochial concerns in order to deliver justice when needed, and that which can be brought before the Commission as a form of arbitration, asserting the wide reach of its broad authority."

"Sadly, this mechanism is not expressly present in any form of legislation that has been brought forward, apart from what was enumerated in the distinctive Appointments. For that very fact, statutory construction cannot bar us from seeking what is fair under the philosophy of justice, since interpretation is present in determining the common patrimony."

"We will present pieces of evidence to support these principal arguments as we implore the sense of equity that arises from our main contentions where we will seek to establish in our legal position convincing testimonies to deliver proofs for the initiation of this particular controversy."

"Thank you, Your Rightful Honors."
