Chapter 105: A Queen's Solemn Promise

/ spindle (n.) - a rod or pin that serves as an axis on which something revolves /

Her Majesty The Queen Alexandra II of the South was not as evil as before, especially in her early years as the Crown Princess of the Spindle Monument, the titular of the heir apparent to the throne. In fact, she happens to behave like a typical princess in a fairy tale, full of beauty, hope, and a distinctively developed character whose will and determination will be tested by the standard conflict of a choice between what is good and what is evil.

She was all of that, and more, alright, albeit the actual dire circumstances have not been good to her. During her tenure as the Crown Princess, the South Kingdom experienced a lot of troubles mainly pertaining to the Kingdom's economic status, as well as those matters pertaining to the loyalty of some faction of the troops that has attempted to assassinate her father, King Noah V. All of these while she was very faithful carrying out the demands of her title, during which period she clearly saw the ungrateful path on how to complete a monarch's tumultuous reign.

Regardless of what was clearly the adverse circumstances during the era of King Noah V, the heir apparent remained calm and resolute, always considering the most justified acts when dealing with the affairs of the Kingdom, as her father would always tell her. The state of affairs may have become so unfair, and almost cruel, nevertheless, her heart was not yet corrupted with the seed of hate, mostly at that given period.

There was no record in history on how the hate actually planted itself in her beating heart, but later on she will be known as the Queen full of majesty, "the great" in the eyes of many. But because of this seed of hatred in her heart, the South Kingdom was able to assert itself to become one of the most powerful dominion within the Commission on Appointments.

There was no known Spindle that still exists at that time for the mysterious occurence that the hate responsible for this was actually manufactured, when everything else was already dominated by the power of the Potion of Love. Whether it was a dust, or a processed particle in space and time, love has always been the driving force (or "impetus") of the affairs of the different state and dominions that can be found in this dimension.

It was the encounter of the then Crown Princess Alexandra of the Spindle Monument in the dark forest that changed her the situation from the better to the worst, a meeting that will later on to be described as the impending doom when she have met with a surviving Vampire, an illegal act that might lead the Crown towards an illicit act of treason. But she did agree to this meeting despite the potential legal repercussions that might be brought against her by the Privy Council, in order to bargain for the release of her father who was then incarcerated in the Gawkins Republic for a frivolous charge that was initiated by the Tenth Kingdom.

Apparently, this was the moment that the Vampire was able to convince the future Queen to place a portion of hate in her character to achieve the balance that life requires as a direct result of the "fall from grace," whether the effect of such fact is visible or invisible.

How it was done is anybody's guess.

"This is for the better," the Vampire told the Crown Princess. "Let no one know of this most resolute plan."

"He was the Dark Angel responsible for my father's arrest, isn't he?"

The Vampire nodded. "That is correct. All of us are being manipulated, and we need to face this last battle intelligently. We must all do our part to outsmart the Dark Angel."

"I think I can trust you," the Crown Princess sound reassuring to the Vampire. "Because I saw you in my dreams."

"I will guarantee you that I am willing to help," the Vampire said sadly. "But I am not a good creature. I am as evil as the subject of the legions of the fallen angels. Trust me if you will, but never glorify my presence. I am as sinful."

The Crown Princess understood the message by the caution of his voice. "I can do that. I am not afraid to die anymore. I am ready to face the perils of this scene, whoever instigated the brutality of these barbaric acts."

"Your father may not be able to come out alive from this," the Vampire said sincerely. "I guess all of us must do our part and share with the grief in fighting all the lonely effects of this so-called original sin."
