Chapter Eighty Four: A Publisher's Solemn Task
The Conference of Saints and All-Saints has dispatched a well-trusted Publisher from the Story Board, who was tasked with an important duty to protect the only original copy left of The Three Tales of Old, which is generally held as a very important artifact of the Court of Ethicists that contains a very important message, although this message is not known to anyone.
Many say that the value attributed to this old book is a forbidden tale that was smuggled from the Classics Authority a long time ago, with an intention to create a supertitious belief, but the motivation for creating a superstition was also not known. Some shared the view that the value of the book is as valuable as this superstition, and that whoever was right in their allegations does not really matter at all, and there is no difference to be determined in the conflicting beliefs.
But there is value in this situation, indeed. The secrecy that shrouds this historical account was too much to bear for anybody, and that the mere notion of this thing, which is being held in supreme value is greatly powerful to create massive disruption in the way things are told, and retold. There is power involved, and it is dark and sinister.
As a Publisher, he was expected to be very fluent in Prophenese. But tonight, he wasn't sure at all. The old book was firmly clutched by his right hand, and the halo on top of his head was very visible, which indicates the readiness to use his extrasensory perception in case an enemy is nearby. He has not been able to use his ESP for quite a while now, and so he is raring to use it to any unfortunate soul who would try to subdue his presence.
He is more than ready.
His name is Theo Gavel, an extremely capable Publisher who is famous for his skillful use of his halo. As a former Warden of the Dystopian Prison, he was able to fully equip himself with all the necessary techniques to vanquish and defeat the enemy, be it a low-profile prisoner or a criminal at large.
Despite his proven expertise, he was still, nevertheless, gravely concerned about his own safety while taking the noble responsibility of securing the safety of this old book. The feeling is odd, curious in the midst, and pestering. He do not usually feel this kind of worry while fulfilling his official functions, so he was trying his best to feel the energy of the surrounding Prophenese to counter any attempts to ambush him, if ever the coldness of the wind was trying to say something.
The stars are out, but the constellation does not say anything important. He sighed. Maybe he just needed a little jolt to wake him from a trance, and move on. He was determined to face the fear of the unknown, and tackle the enemy in melee. His confidence is fueling the need to show his halo to signify the strength of his well-versed talent.
He took a deep breath in order to relax. Just when he was about to go on his way, he heard something that moved from the bushes. He was startled, and quickly faced its direction ready to attack.
"Who is that? Show yourself!"
There was complete silence. He tried sensing who could possibly was hiding there, and then decided to repeat himself.
"I am a duly-licensed Publisher! Show yourself, now!"
